Hastings and St Leonards bedrooms are rarely a standard shape. Tall Victorian and Regency rooms, chimney breasts in the middle of a wall, sloping attic ceilings and floors that have settled over a century all make a freestanding wardrobe look like an afterthought.
We build every wardrobe from scratch in our workshop in Pevensey, then spray it and fit it ourselves. Because it is made to measure it goes right to the ceiling, right into the corner and tight against walls that are nowhere near straight.
That height is worth having. A great many Hastings houses have ceilings well over the standard wardrobe height, and that top metre is the difference between seasonal storage being in the loft or in the bedroom where you can reach it.

Hinged-door wardrobes
The classic fitted wardrobe, floor to ceiling with no wasted gap. Suits the tall period rooms across the Old Town, Clive Vale and Warrior Square.
Sliding-door wardrobes
Doors that need no floor space to open, which matters in the narrower terraced bedrooms common in Hastings and St Leonards. Painted or mirrored finishes.
Walk-in & dressing rooms
Open hanging, drawers, shelving and shoe racks arranged as a proper dressing room, often the best use of a small third bedroom or a wide landing.

Every door is made and sprayed in our workshop, so you are not limited to a supplier’s range.
Door styles
Shaker, flat panel, in-frame or handleless, in hinged or sliding form. The door is the only part most people see, so it is worth getting right.
Paint & colour
Hand-sprayed in our own booth in any colour, including Farrow & Ball and Little Greene matches. A cured sprayed finish is far tougher than a brushed one and can be refreshed years later.
Handles & ironmongery
Solid handles and quality soft-close hinges and runners as standard. We will happily match ironmongery to something already in the room.

Hastings wardrobe questions, answered
Do you cover Hastings and St Leonards?
Both, along with Ore, Clive Vale, Silverhill, Hollington and out towards Battle and Bexhill. Our workshop is in Pevensey, around fifteen miles away.
Can you build right up to a high Victorian ceiling?
Yes, and it is one of the best reasons to go fitted in Hastings. Standard wardrobes stop around two metres and leave a dust shelf above. We build to the ceiling, usually with a separate upper tier for things you only need seasonally.
What about sloping attic ceilings?
Very common in Hastings loft conversions and completely workable. We design the wardrobe to follow the slope, using the full-height section for hanging and the lower section for drawers and shelving, so none of that awkward space is wasted.
Sliding or hinged doors?
Hinged doors give full access and a more traditional look. Sliding doors need no clearance to open, which usually wins in narrow terraced bedrooms. We will tell you which suits your room at the design visit.
