Carpenter Hastings
Carpenter in Hastings
Made in our workshop. Fitted by the same hands.
A carpenter who makes the furniture, not just fits it.
Bespoke Carpenter & Joiner in Hastings
Most carpenters in Hastings fit furniture that somebody else manufactured. We design, build and spray ours in our own workshop in Pevensey, then fit it ourselves, so there is no handover between the person who drew it and the person who has to make it fit.
That matters more here than in most towns. The Victorian and Regency houses of Hastings and St Leonards have tall ceilings, chimney breasts in awkward places, sloping attic rooms and floors that have settled over a century. Made-to-measure furniture absorbs all of it.
- Designed, made, sprayed and fitted by the same team
- Scribed to walls and floors that are nowhere near straight
- Built to the full height of tall period rooms

Options
Carpentry we do in Hastings
Everything below is made to measure in our own workshop, then hand-sprayed and fitted by us.
Fitted furniture & cabinetry
Alcove units, bookcases, media walls, home offices, boot rooms, larders and under-stairs storage, all built for the room they go in.
Kitchens & bedrooms
Handmade kitchens and fitted wardrobes, from a single run of cabinetry to a full house of furniture.
Built-in storage
Built-in storage for the spaces nothing standard fits: chimney breast alcoves, sloping attic ceilings, narrow landings and box rooms.
Where we work
Working in Hastings houses
Hastings and St Leonards housing sets the brief more than anywhere else we work.
Period terraces
Narrow terraces around the Old Town and Clive Vale, where every centimetre counts and nothing is square.
Tall Victorian rooms
Tall rooms around Warrior Square and St Leonards, where standard furniture leaves a metre of unused height.
Attic conversions
Loft conversions with sloping ceilings, where furniture has to follow the slope rather than fight it.
Materials
Timbers and finishes
Every piece is made from proper materials and finished in our own spray room.
Timbers
Solid oak, ash, beech and tulipwood, with moisture-resistant carcasses rather than thin chipboard.
Paint & spray finish
Hand-sprayed in any colour, including Farrow & Ball and Little Greene matches, or left as natural timber.
Ironmongery
Solid handles, soft-close hinges and runners, chosen to suit the room rather than whatever is cheapest.

FAQs
Hastings carpentry questions, answered
Do you cover Hastings and St Leonards?
Both, along with Ore, Clive Vale, Silverhill, Hollington and out towards Battle and Bexhill. Our workshop is in Pevensey, around fifteen miles away.
Are you carpenters or joiners?
Both terms get used loosely. Joinery is furniture and cabinetry made in a workshop; carpentry is the fitting work on site. We do both ourselves, so the people who made it are the people who install it.
What sort of jobs do you take on?
Made-to-measure furniture and cabinetry: fitted wardrobes, kitchens, alcove units, bookcases, media walls, home offices, boot rooms, larders, under-stairs storage and one-off pieces. If you are not sure whether your job fits, just ask.
My walls and floors are not straight. Is that a problem?
No, and in Hastings it is normal. Every piece is scribed to your walls, floors and ceilings on site, which is exactly why made-to-measure suits these houses better than anything bought in.
How much does bespoke carpentry cost in Hastings?
There is no fixed price list, because cost follows the size of the job, the materials and the detail. We do a free design visit, then give you a clear itemised quote with no obligation.
Can I see examples of your work?
Yes. Our portfolio has full project write-ups with photographs, and you are welcome to visit the workshop in Pevensey.
