Carpenter in Eastbourne

Carpenter Eastbourne

Bespoke Carpenter & Joiner in Eastbourne

Most carpentry in Eastbourne is fitting work: hanging doors, putting up shelves, installing units somebody else manufactured. We do something narrower. We design and build furniture from scratch in our own workshop in Pevensey, five miles away, spray it there, and then fit it ourselves.

That means one team from first measurement to final handle, and no gap between the person who drew it and the person who has to make it fit. In older Eastbourne houses, where almost nothing is square, that is the difference between furniture that looks built-in and furniture that looks added.

Built In-House

Every component handmade and sprayed in our Pevensey workshop entirely by us.

Carefully packaged and delivered, our team then professionally installs your new furniture.

Options

Everything below is made to measure in our own workshop, then hand-sprayed and fitted by us.

Alcove units, bookcases, media walls, home offices, boot rooms, larders and under-stairs storage, all built for the room they go in.

Handmade kitchens and fitted wardrobes, from a single run of cabinetry to a full house of furniture.

Built-in storage for the spaces nothing standard fits: chimney breast alcoves, sloping loft ceilings, landings and box rooms.

Where we work

Eastbourne housing varies enormously, and the right approach changes with it.

The Victorian terraces around Upperton and Old Town have chimney breasts, deep alcoves and walls that have moved. Everything is scribed on site.

Newer homes towards Langney and Sovereign Harbour are square but often oddly proportioned, so standard furniture leaves dead space at one end.

Loft conversions, understairs voids and landings are where made-to-measure earns its keep, because nothing off the shelf will fit them.

Materials

Every piece is made from proper materials and finished in our own spray room.

Solid oak, ash, beech and tulipwood, with moisture-resistant carcasses rather than thin chipboard.

Hand-sprayed in any colour, including Farrow & Ball and Little Greene matches, or left as natural timber.

Solid handles, soft-close hinges and runners, chosen to suit the room rather than whatever is cheapest.

Specification

No hidden extras and no design fees. This is what every Eastbourne project includes as standard.

A free design visit, full survey and a 3D design before you commit to anything, with revisions until it is right.

Solid carcasses, quality soft-close hinges and a hand-sprayed finish in your chosen colour, all made in our workshop.

Installation by the team who built it, scribed to your walls, and a local workshop you can call on afterwards.

Investment

Every piece is made to measure, so there is no fixed price list. Cost follows the size of the job, the materials and the level of detail. You get a clear, itemised quote after your free design visit, and the figure we agree is the figure you pay.

FAQs

Do you cover the whole of Eastbourne?

Yes, the whole town and the surrounding villages, including Old Town, Meads, Willingdon, Hampden Park, Langney, Polegate and Sovereign Harbour. Our workshop is in Pevensey, roughly five miles away.

Are you carpenters or joiners?

Both terms get used loosely. Joinery is furniture and cabinetry made in a workshop; carpentry is the fitting work on site. We do both halves ourselves, which is the point: the people who made it are the people who install it.

What sort of jobs do you take on?

Made-to-measure furniture and cabinetry: fitted wardrobes, kitchens, alcove units, bookcases, media walls, home offices, boot rooms, larders, under-stairs storage and one-off pieces. If you are not sure whether your job fits, just ask.
