Manufactured and spray finished in our workshop in Eastbourne, every bookcase is fitted by the same team who built it, allowing us to achieve a seamless fit, even in older properties where no two walls are perfectly straight.

Books are heavy and walls are rarely straight, which is exactly why a bookcase is worth making properly. We build ours to carry real weight, scribed tight to your walls.
Alcove bookcases
Bookcases and shelving built into the alcoves either side of a chimney breast, usually with cupboards below.

Wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling shelving for serious collections, with lighting and deeper shelves where you need them.

Bookcase & shelving questions, answered
Do you make fitted and freestanding bookcases?
Both. Fitted alcove bookcases and full wall-to-wall libraries, scribed tight to your walls, and freestanding bookcases built like proper furniture. All of it is made and finished in our Pevensey workshop.
How much does a bespoke bookcase cost?
As a guide, our alcove bookcases typically start from around £[X,XXX], and full home libraries most often fall between £[X,XXX] and £[X,XXX], depending on the wall and the detail. You get an itemised quote after the design stage.
Will the shelves sag over time?
No. Books are heavy, around 25 kilos per metre of shelf, so we size the shelf thickness and spans for the load and fix them properly. That is the main difference between a made bookcase and a flat-pack one.
Can you build in cupboards, drawers or a desk?
Yes. Cupboards below the shelving, drawers, desks and display lighting are all common, so one wall can hold the books, the paperwork and the printer. A bookcase wall and a home office often turn out to be the same project.
My walls are old and nothing is straight. Is that a problem?
That is normal, especially in older Sussex houses. Every piece is scribed to your walls and ceilings during installation, so the bookcase looks grown into the room rather than pushed against it.

We make alcove units, display units, media walls, under-stair storage and other bespoke furniture, all made in our Pevensey workshop.
