Bespoke Alcove Units Hastings

Alcove Units Hastings

Bespoke Alcove Cupboards & Shelving in Hastings

The Victorian and Regency houses of Hastings and St Leonards tend to have deep alcoves and high ceilings, and a shop-bought unit leaves most of that height empty.

We build alcove units from scratch in our workshop in Pevensey, running them as high as the room allows, then spray and fit them ourselves. Walls that have moved over a century are scribed on site, so the finished units sit tight to the plaster from floor to ceiling.

We work across Hastings and St Leonards, including the Old Town, Clive Vale, Warrior Square, Ore and Silverhill.

  • Built to the full height of tall period rooms
  • Scribed to walls and floors that are not straight
  • Cupboards, shelving or both
  • Hand-sprayed in heritage or modern colours

Built In-House

Every component handmade and sprayed in our Pevensey workshop entirely by us.

Installed & Finished

Carefully packaged and delivered, our team then professionally installs your new alcove units

Options

Every unit is measured and built for your alcoves in our own workshop, then hand-sprayed in any colour.

Open shelving run to the ceiling, with the upper shelves set for display and the lower ones for everyday use. Suits the tall Victorian rooms across Hastings.

Deep cupboards that make the most of generous period alcoves, with space for board games, records and everything else that needs a home.

Closed storage below and shelving above, often with a separate top cupboard to use the full height of the room.

Ideas

Alcoves are one of the most flexible spaces in a Hastings home. These are the three things people ask us for most.

Alcoves either side of a TV make a natural media wall, with speakers, consoles and cables hidden behind doors.

Shelving sized to your books and objects, with optional lighting to pick out the things you want on show.

A fold-away or fixed desk built into one alcove, with shelving above, so work stays tidy and out of the way.

Finishes

Every door and panel is made and sprayed in our workshop, so you are not limited to a supplier’s range.

Shaker, flat panel or in-frame doors, with open shelving or glazed doors where you want to display rather than hide.

Hand-sprayed in our own booth in any colour, including Farrow & Ball and Little Greene matches, or left as natural timber.

Matching skirting and cornice, integrated LED lighting and handles chosen to suit the rest of the room.

Specification

No hidden extras and no design fees. This is what every Hastings alcove unit we build includes.

A free design visit, full survey and a 3D design before you commit to anything, with revisions until it is right.

Solid carcasses, quality soft-close hinges and a hand-sprayed finish in your chosen colour, all made in our workshop.

Installation by the team who built it, scribed to your walls, and a local workshop you can call on afterwards.

Investment

Every alcove is measured and built to order, so there is no fixed price list. Cost depends on the size and height of the alcoves, the mix of cupboards and shelving, and the finish. You get a clear, itemised quote after your free design visit.

FAQs

Do you cover Hastings and St Leonards?

Both, along with Ore, Clive Vale, Silverhill, Hollington and out towards Battle and Bexhill. Our workshop is in Pevensey, around fifteen miles away.

Can you build right up to a high ceiling?

Yes. In many Hastings houses the top metre of an alcove goes unused. We run units to the ceiling, usually with a separate upper cupboard or shelf for things you do not need every day.

My walls are not straight. Will the units still fit?

That is normal in older Hastings and St Leonards houses. Every unit is scribed to the wall on site, so there are no gaps down the side or along the top.

Shelving, cupboards or both?

Whatever suits the room. Tall shelving works well for books and display, while cupboards below keep everyday clutter out of sight. We will talk it through at the design visit.

How much do alcove units cost in Hastings?

There is no fixed price list, because cost depends on the size of the alcoves, the mix of storage and the finish. We do a free design visit and give you a clear, itemised quote with no obligation.

What else do you make?

Kitchens, fitted wardrobes, bookcases, media walls, home offices and under-stairs storage, all from the same workshop.

Our workshop is in Pevensey and we design, build and fit alcove units throughout Hastings, St Leonards, Ore, Clive Vale, Silverhill, Battle and Bexhill-on-Sea. The team that builds your units is the team that installs them. Not sure if you are in range? Just ask.

We also fit alcove units in Bexhill, Eastbourne and Lewes. See our full range of bespoke alcove units across Sussex, or our kitchens and fitted wardrobes in Hastings.
