Bespoke Alcove Units Eastbourne

Alcove Units Eastbourne

Bespoke Alcove Cupboards & Shelving in Eastbourne

Most Eastbourne living rooms have the same two awkward gaps either side of the chimney breast. Flat-pack units never quite fill them, because Victorian and Edwardian alcoves are rarely the same width at the top as at the bottom, and almost never match each other.

We build alcove units to the exact shape of your recesses in our workshop in Pevensey, about five miles from the town centre, then spray and fit them ourselves. Every unit is scribed tight to the wall on site, so there are no tapering gaps and no filler strips.

We work throughout Eastbourne, from the terraces around Upperton and Old Town to the larger houses in Meads and the newer homes towards Langney and Sovereign Harbour.

  • Cupboards below, shelving above, or full-height either way
  • Scribed to uneven walls, skirting and cornice
  • Space for the TV, speakers and hidden cables
  • Hand-sprayed in any colour to match the room

Built In-House

Every component handmade and sprayed in our Pevensey workshop entirely by us.

Installed & Finished

Carefully packaged and delivered, our team then professionally installs your new alcove units

Options

Every unit is measured and built for your alcoves in our own workshop, then hand-sprayed in any colour.

Open shelving built to the exact width and depth of each alcove. Ideal for books and display in the period living rooms common across Eastbourne.

Full-height or base-level cupboards that hide clutter, toys and paperwork while keeping the chimney breast as the focal point.

The classic pairing: closed storage below and shelving above, with a solid top at a height that works as a surface.

Ideas

Alcoves are one of the most flexible spaces in a Eastbourne home. These are the three things people ask us for most.

Alcoves either side of a TV make a natural media wall, with speakers, consoles and cables hidden behind doors.

Shelving sized to your books and objects, with optional lighting to pick out the things you want on show.

A fold-away or fixed desk built into one alcove, with shelving above, so work stays tidy and out of the way.

Finishes

Every door and panel is made and sprayed in our workshop, so you are not limited to a supplier’s range.

Shaker, flat panel or in-frame doors, with open shelving or glazed doors where you want to display rather than hide.

Hand-sprayed in our own booth in any colour, including Farrow & Ball and Little Greene matches, or left as natural timber.

Matching skirting and cornice, integrated LED lighting and handles chosen to suit the rest of the room.

Specification

No hidden extras and no design fees. This is what every Eastbourne alcove unit we build includes.

A free design visit, full survey and a 3D design before you commit to anything, with revisions until it is right.

Solid carcasses, quality soft-close hinges and a hand-sprayed finish in your chosen colour, all made in our workshop.

Installation by the team who built it, scribed to your walls, and a local workshop you can call on afterwards.

Investment

Every alcove is measured and built to order, so there is no fixed price list. Cost depends on the size of the alcoves, the mix of cupboards and shelving, and the finish. You get a clear, itemised quote after your free design visit, and the figure we agree is the figure you pay.

FAQs

Do you cover the whole of Eastbourne?

Yes, the whole town and the surrounding villages, including Old Town, Meads, Willingdon, Hampden Park, Langney and Sovereign Harbour. Our workshop is five miles away in Pevensey.

My two alcoves are different sizes. Is that a problem?

Not at all, and it is very common in older Eastbourne houses. Each alcove is measured separately and each unit is built to its own dimensions, while the pair are designed to look balanced either side of the chimney breast.

Can you build around a TV and hide the cables?

Yes. Alcove units often hold the TV, sound bar or games consoles. We plan cable routes, ventilation and sockets at the design stage so nothing is visible once it is fitted.

Shelving, cupboards or both?

Whatever suits the room and how you use it. Most people go for cupboards below and shelving above, but full-height shelving and full-height cupboards are just as easy. We will talk it through at the design visit.

How much do alcove units cost in Eastbourne?

There is no fixed price list, because cost depends on the size of the alcoves, the mix of storage and the finish. We do a free design visit and then give you a clear, itemised quote with no obligation.

What else do you make?

Kitchens, fitted wardrobes, bookcases, media walls, home offices and under-stairs storage, all from the same workshop and to the same standard.

Our workshop is in Pevensey, five miles from Eastbourne, and we design, build and fit alcove units throughout the town and surrounding villages, including Old Town, Meads, Willingdon, Polegate, Hampden Park and Sovereign Harbour. The team that builds your units is the team that installs them. Not sure if you are in range? Just ask.

We also fit alcove units in Hastings, Bexhill and Hailsham. See our full range of bespoke alcove units across Sussex, or our kitchens and fitted wardrobes in Eastbourne.
